An aphrodisiac is defined as a substance which arouses sexual desire. True aphrodisiacs have been well known and universally prized since ancient times in Egypt, Persia, Arabia and China.
Aphrodisiacs fall into three categories, those that are calming and soothing, creating desired effects by reducing anxieties and stresses; those that are directly stimulating; and those that have a hormonal effect.
